What is active rehabilitation?
Active rehabilitation is a type of rehabilitation that involves patients completing exercises and activities to help them regain strength, movement, and function. It is often used after an injury or surgery. Active rehabilitation may be done in a hospital, outpatient clinic, fitness studio, or home.
Active rehabilitation aims to help you regain strength, movement, and function. It is crucial to start these exercises as soon as possible after your injury or surgery. This will help you to recover more quickly and prevent further problems.
What are some examples of rehabilitation exercises?
Active rehabilitation exercises may include:
- Cardiovascular exercises to help improve your heart and lung function
- Strength training exercises to help rebuild muscle strength
- Balance and coordination exercises to help improve your ability to move safely
- Flexibility and range of motion exercises to help improve your ability to move your joints through their full range of motion
- Functional exercises to help you regain the ability to perform activities of daily living such as dressing, grooming, and cooking
The frequency and intensity of your rehabilitation exercises will be based on your individual needs. We will design a program that is right for you. In general, it is recommended that you exercise 3-5 times per week for 20-30 minutes per session.
If active rehabilitation can help you, please get in touch with our fitness studio. We service the greater Surrey, BC area, including Langley, Richmond, BC, Vancouver, Burnaby, and beyond. We can answer any questions you may have and help get you started on your road to recovery.
What our members say
The coaches at Fit Nation are simply the best! Ben has guided and helped me through my journey to a healthier lifestyle; and provided the right stretches to work out my knee issues. I highly recommended the gym, as they become more than your coaches, they become family.
